Pluggin along

My friend Rita Ryan is going to laugh, point and say I told you so when I put this out there.
Seems the best way to beat this is going vegan. No sugar, no red meat. So I'll have one last steak tonight and tomorrow be on vegie protein and iron. My mammoth hunting ancestors wouldn't understand, but considering my cousins and I have documented 200 years of cancer in the family, we must've been doing something wrong.

Good thing beer is vegan
Family wants me to check with cancer dietician to see if organic is enough even including meat.

From Rita Ryan Ha! Yes, finally! You need to cut out sugar/carbs too, they feed cancer. And beer has lot of carbs. But cannabis kills cancer! And cannabis is vegan, yay! Get the organic kind. I look forward to you falling in love with a plant based diet while enjoying medicinal marijuana. Please send pix!! Make sure you get enough plant-based protein. And stay away from all dairy, my friend. I'll send lots of dietary suggestions privately.

Can anyone recommend a good vegan cookbook that we can quickly put into action?

Once insurance approves it, getting leg wraps with velcro for lymphedema, so it doesnt take an extra half hour to get ready wrapping the leg in foam and gauze. Also waiting for a pump that goes on the leg and squeezes like a boa constrictor and pushes the lymph up the leg. Finally, getting a nerve block to stop the pain in my hips so I can can sleep.

Wishing "Modern Farmer" was still on early morning TV. 60 years too late.

So much for peaceful lying down. Need to go to chiropractor for back. Not much I can do about lymphedema pain except wake up,  if I am actually sleeping, and massage the heck of it to get the lymph out of my hips. Pump will help that when I get it. Knees will get better now that I'm not walking like a chimp.

This side effect biz is hard work. Unwrapped legs, showered, rewrapped legs, visited by home health nurse to rebandage nephrostomy tube site, moved $ between accounts, got more copier paper, got blood test to check protein levels, copied and dropped off reports at bone onco doc, made appt for dietician and chiropractor, stopped at Lenscrafters to tighten my glasses from almost falling off my head into the toilet, took out trash, cleaned up after the mutts, washed the fake grass with vinegar and water, got the mail, defrosted and marinated a not yet vegan tri-tip. (2 left in freezer), fed the dogs so I have something to clean up in the backyard again. All that activity really helped with the back pain. Now to try again and get FTP working from my phone to laptop.  ….Stupid Windows Firewall...grrr forgot that thing is turned on automatically. Wasted hours futzing around with FTP settings

Guess I should have read the fine print in the nerve block post surgery instructions- 'May take up to 2 weeks to take effect.' So once the lidocaine wore off after the first day, up to 2 weeks for the steroids to kick in. And I laughed when I bought a bottle if Tylenol with 500 pills, as if anyone would need that many. 2/3s of it is empty.

Phew. 2.5+ hours to get ready for bed! Unwrap the gauze and foam off both legs. Roll up the 13 lengths so the legs can be rewrapped. Cut tape for the rewrapping. Hand wash the leg sleeves that go under the foam. Take a shower. Massage everywhere the lymphedema instructions say to. Apply lotion to both legs. Rewrap both legs. Take evening meds and herbs. Just a grind between that, vitamin schedule, therapy appts., and evaluating treatment options. Cant possibly do this right and work at the same time.

Knocked off another side effect that was keeping me off the bike. Will wait to try the bike next week just to be sure this is really cleared up
