Chemo Fever 080218

I said I was going to make this easier on myself, so no custom links, no nav to other pages no pictures generally, no update dates, etc.  Scrape what's in Facebook and put it in here once a week.

7/26 Best day ever since Mid Feb. No pain, no drugs (exc couple chemo infusions on Thurs). Given nondrug products from naturopath in AZ. Most of pain gone after daughter got me a special cushion for sleeping sitting up.

Decided to spend the night in the hospital because I miss it so much!
Got a chemo fever, but it was gone before I got out of ER. Hemoglobin dropped from chemo so getting transfusion then go home. Best sleep in 2 months, 8 hours. Asked for and got earplugs.
Guess I should have been eating steak every night since Thursday

I cannot wait to tell my oncologist, "You're fired!" I met with him on Thursday and went over the CT report from Mayo. I had gotten it before him and knew the content inside out and backwards. He was citing things that were not in the report, he made conclusions that were not in line with the trends from prior reports and gave me a doom and gloom outlook. Fortunately, I knew better and every site is shrinking and the liver is the same as it was a month ago, even though he cl...aimed all the spots were new. If he had compared the reports, he would have known. He is world known in urological oncology, has written the book, is the medical director, but doesn't have time for his patients. I only came to this realization because I stopped working, commuting, fixing dinner, taking care of my dogs and cleared out all the pain meds. Life was just waiting for me to be ready.

A lot of people hate Lance Armstrong still. My sister did. For me, Lance was an inspiration ever since his first tour. when you go to war, if you want to win, the strategy is Total War. That's what he did. If you really want to know what happened during those years read this. It may change your perspective.  http://freakonomics.com/podcast/lance-armstrong/

Someone suggested that I take melatonin a couple days ago to even out my sleep. I told them I am not taking any more drugs. Now I know melatonin is safe but I am just so done with stuff I don't need. This morning I remembered this natural resetting of your clock:
Melatonin alternative: fix Circadian rhythm

7/30 I just came to the realization that had I gotten a nerve block in my hip more than two months ago I could have likely avoided the recent hospital stays. It seemed to be the more extreme option at the time as it involves surgery; and again my mental state did not permit me to evaluate my options better. And that radiation table would not seemed to have been from Ripley's house of terror.

Ok this time I really mean it. Copying stuff from FB, putting it into the blog, then editing and weaving a bit of story using a cell phone is too time consuming. I will keep posting updates here, and will scoop them up and put them into the blog when I fire up the laptop as is.

Guess what. Have still been in the hospital due to a chemo fever that popped up the day i was supposed to get out. They pumped me full of antibiotics while they culture my blood to look for bugs and have not found any. I am on a brand new oncology floor that was finished April 1 and it has the top nurses by Vegas standards...ahem. lots of services, volunteers, support group coordinator, case manager if you know what to ask for. My daughter was here this afternoon and as an ER Pediatrician at another hospital, knows what to ask for.
Things are getting worked on the bucket list without me doing anything. Just happening.
