Better late than never
Forgot all about doing this over the weekend.
Good info on Chris Werk's ( chrisbeatscancer) Q&A session, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjjZRghOCfw&feature=youtu.be
Met with a dietitian to talk about the finer points and pitfalls of going vegan. Some great tips like eating vitamin C rich foods with iron rich foods to improve absorption of the iron. Since I had a problem with my hemoglobin being low, that's key. Some good ideas for snacks too.
Peanuts don't have most of the benefits of tree nuts and not all tree nuts are equal. Brazil nuts are a source of selenium that others aren't. There are lots of non-soy based protein alternatives, especially in recent years.
I've seen too many vegans who were undernourished because they didn't know what they were doing and didn't eat a broad enough diet to get sufficient iron, protein, and phytonutrients.
Well so much for getting on the stationary bike. Got one foot on, but couldn't raise either leg to get the other foot on the pedal due to hip issues. Can barely step over a curb without a lot of concentration, careful placement of the cane and correct choice of leg. Usually easier to find an apron to walk up. Can walk up our driveway, but easier walking backwards when going up.
Not worried..all temporary till I beat this into submission
My daughter's friend Katherine Phillipson recommended the meditation app Headspace. Excellent app. On day 3 and last night woke up as usual at 230. Got out of bed due to pain, popped a Tylenol, plopped in the recliner, performed my lymphedema massage routine, then went through the Headspace session. Didn't make it ten minutes and woke up 3 hours later. So relaxing!
All the chrisbeatcancer modules are open for free viewing this weekend. https://squareone.chrisbeatcancer.com/encore-weekend-over
Got wraps on Friday for my legs for the lymphedema that close using velcro straps instead of the miles of ace bandages we had to wrap with before. If these new wraps were white I'd look like a storm trooper.
I thought I was sweating profusely from some of the herbs I'm taking. Just realized that wearing these wraps is like wearing 5 pairs of long johns.

Switching over insurance to COBRA has been a real pain in the butt. No one to call, just a crappy website to enroll on. During the transition period, my providers haven't been able to get any prior authorizations, even though I am covered retroactively. Thought we were all set, then found another payment we had to make to cover the rest of September, which wasn't obvious from the way it was listed.
