In the beginning... updated 1/31/18 8:45pm
All stories start like that, no?
Oh wait, there was also, "It was a dark and stormy night..." and "Once upon a time..."
I wasn't going to do a blog as my sister did, but soon realized that I had a lot of people to keep in the loop. Texting the same messages over and over was getting tedious, although I did feel it connected me better to each person. So I'll dedicate this to my wife and my sister for all their love and strength in dealing with my and my sister's cancer journeys.
I want to thank Mikki, Andrew, Lisa, Rabbi and Ellie for all their love, help and support through this.
I also want to thank my friends and relatives who offered such good advice, assistance and wishes - Lucille Hunt and Michael Monte, especially Tom Zito and Kate Bennett for sharing their experiences, Suzanne Weiner for her editing prowess, Siva Iyar, Rita Ryan for offering a kidney, Mohammed and
Jasmine Ziauddin, Claire Honer Lightkep, Veronica Honer, Kathy Honer, Marianne Niblock, Robert O'Flaherty, Matt Hird, Kristen Conrad Henderson, Chris Heeg, Ethel Allman, Robyn Bell, Sonny and Sue Pagnota, Heather Spruill, George Sublette, Cari S, Bob and Faith Heeg, Sandra Lorback, Pat and Donna Hyland and all the Heeg, Honer and Poniard men and women who fought and lost, but with dignity, grace and strength.
I am sure there will be many more folks reaching out that I'll add to this list once I let the news out, as I have some really great friends and amazing relatives.
John
You make my dreams come true.
And here they come, more relatives, friends from high school, college,Ventura, Countrywide, Clark County, Thousand Oaks DART, Luxembourg.

I am also going to include Lance Armstrong. We can get into a discussion about him; I think he did what he had to and he is a changed man now. But anyone fighting cancer needs to read his first book and adopt his warrior attitude.
Edit: 12/27/17 I am floored by the outpouring of support from all corners. With this size army, I know I'm winning already.
